July 2014 marked the completion of this 8 200sqm Ridgeside office for the Zenprop/Rewardsco Group joint venture. The six-level building is almost entirely glass clad, ensuring exceptional sea views and providing the building with a distinctive patterned facade. Focal to the upper level workspaces, is a central atrium which provides natural light to the heart of the building. Other environmental elements incorporated into this 4 Star Green design, include sustainable water, electricity, mechanical resources, as well as low VOC content materials.
Currently under construction, this mixed-use project will be the icon on Umhlanga’s new Boulevard. The first phase accommodates the new offices of Royal Haskoning DHV, the Dutch based engineering firm, street cafes and arcaded retail, which will spill onto broad sidewalks. Defined by an unusual glazed facade, this building will present an eye-catching presence in the streetscape and phase one will be complete in mid-2016. The project embodies a significant array of integrated sustainability endeavours.
Construction of the Illovo Head Office in Umhlanga is well underway. Work has commenced on site for SA Corporate Real Estate Fund expansion of Umlazi Mega City. The existing centre will receive a further 28 700sqm of additional area with a restructuring of parking to accommodate a further 1 300 vehicles. As part of the rebranding of the existing mall, the design will feature a highly legible entrance point as well as a dynamic central food court. Completion of mall expansion is due in June 2016.
